New Shrimp/Kipper Photos

We brought Matt with us this week so we could get some pictures to document Charlie's Navy Seal Training (Matt refuses to call it Shrimp/Kippers).
I promise we're not naked at the Y pool.

Climbing, Schwarzenegger & Devito

Now that he's mastered the flat ground crawl Charlie's learning how to climb the stairs. He made it up 5 stairs tonight pretty much on his own. Matt stayed behind him in case he slipped back but Charlie was doing the work himself.
Purely unintentionally I dressed Charlie in the same outfit as Matt the other day. This has been my dream ever since the day Charlie was conceived, I had no idea it would happen without any planning and trickery on my part though.
They bear a resemblance to Schwarzenegger and Devito wouldn't you say?

Some Random Photos

Practicing self-feeding (Matt's idea). This kid has tons of toys but for whatever reason he prefers the boxes they come in.

2nd Swim Class

We had Charlie's second Shrimp/Kippers swim class today. I dunked him all the way under the water 3 times and he totally loved it for some reason. He didn't swallow water and somehow knew to close his eyes. Such a smart little Kipper!

Shrimp/Kippers

I forgot to bring my camera to Charlie's first swim class today, it was all I could do to remember all the other crap we needed (i.e. special swim diapers, towels, suits for both of us, formula for the way home, flip flops, etc.). I'll try to remember next week.

The class was a success though. Charlie splashed around and enjoyed playing with the toys in the water and trying to catch the bubbles the teacher was blowing. He wasn't too sure about all the songs we were singing though, some of them made him cry a little (whatever you do don't sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to this kid, he hates it). And he wasn't too happy about being on his back, he preferred to float on his stomach with his head up so he could look around. Other than that he had a good time and is currently passed out in his crib recovering from all the fun.

Still Crawling and Being Cute

Not much new to report other than Charlie's mastering the crawl and is getting very good at getting into things he shouldn't.

Tomorrow we start Shrimp/Kippers class at the YMCA so stay tuned for hopefully a very exciting update!

Weight Update

Charlie had his 9-month check up today. He's up to 19 pounds 8 ounces which puts him in the 25th percentile.

His head is still giant - he's up to the 95th percentile.

His height is 27 3/4 which is an inch shorter than when they measured him at his developmental follow-up at the hospital...so something's off a little.

That's the update from here.

The Boy Can Crawl!

While I was on my way home from work yesterday Matt left me a voice mail saying the boy can finally crawl! It's not your traditional crawl, but we're still counting it. Charlie scoots along without using his hands, it's all in his knees, hips, and forearms. He can get across the room just as long as there's a stack of cups in sight. Once he gets to them and successfully knocks them over the crawling stops.

The other thing Charlie has started doing is saying 'Da Da'. I've been in denial that he knew what he was saying for about 3 weeks now but he's recently added a form of 'Ma Ma' to his vocabulary so now I'm on board. Sometimes Da Da is the toaster or his Limbo Elmo doll and Ma Ma usually only comes out when he's screaming for food but we're still counting these as his first words.

There's no denying it, the boy's a genius.
